Glenn's List for Gearheads

Updated 8/19/06

Note:  This is just a list of my own views and opinions based on my own experiences over the many years of being a gearhead.

bullet

Never ever tally up the receipts for all that you have spent on your cars.

bullet

Don't ever consider your car as an investment that will appreciate in monetary value, as in 99.99% of the time, they don't.  Instead your investment appreciation will come in the form of the enjoyment of your car and the friendship of you fellow gearheads.

bullet

Consider copying a form of flattery either given or received.

bullet

Cars are like an addiction.  There are worse addictions to have - drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc., etc....

bullet

Everyone will have an opinion of your car.  The only one that matters is your own.

bullet

What you want versus what you need is sometimes mutually exclusive.

bullet

The saying of spending more to go faster is generally true, but doesn't mean that if you spend the money, you will be faster.

bullet

As in life, you usually get what you pay for.

bullet

If you can't do it yourself, don't complain about how much it will cost for someone else to do it for you.

bullet

The best modification is to the driver - in other words get to the track and practice.

bullet

There will always be someone faster, more powerful, more modified, etc., etc.........

bullet

Enjoy and drive your car and don't worry about the miles and the wear and tear that you accumulate.  Remember, your car is not an investment.  Are you keeping the mileage low for the enjoyment of the next owner?

bullet

Your car will never be finished.

bullet

In the end, remember it is just a car.
